YMMV / The Mandalorian S2E6 "Chapter 14: The Tragedy"

Go To

  • First Installment Wins: Robert Rodriguez would again direct Star Wars with The Book of Boba Fett Chapters 1, 3, and 7, all of which failed to earn as much acclaim as did his first Star Wars joint.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In the Cold Open, Din laments to Grogu, "I can't train you. You're just too powerful." In The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu's Jedi trainer ends the teaching early partially because Grogu proves so powerful, that — to paraphrase the trainer — their sessions feel more like him helping Grogu remember old skills, than teaching him new ones.
  • I Knew It!: Many fans already correctly guessed that Boba Fett was the unknown figure seen approaching Fennec Shand's body at the end of "Chapter Five: The Gunslinger", and that this meant she was Not Quite Dead.
  • Narm: Fennec Shand showing the wound she got from being shot in the gut and how there are now prosthetics there comes across as unintentionally comedic. It doesn't really look like a replacement for internal organs, but such extensive metal framework that it would make more sense if she was actually just a robot that looks human. This isn't helped by Shand having the gaping hole just there under her clothes, rather than sealed up to keep any dirt out.
  • Narm Charm: When Boba dons his armour again, he clearly *ahem* fills it a bit more than he did when he was younger. However this in no way diminishes the awesomeness of his massacre of the stormtroopers, in fact it may enhance it to see him kicking so much arse at an older age and post sarlacc pit.
  • Shocking Moments: Boba and Jango are officially revealed to be Mandalorians, after years of Canon stating that they weren't- although it should be noted that the individual who stated that was an Unreliable Expositor who had plenty of reason to say that Jango wasn't Mandalorian. And Boba himself is rather ambivalent and noncommittal about whether or not he considers himself a Mandalorian.
  • Win Back the Crowd: While Temuera Morrison's performance as Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones has always been well-regarded, his redubbing Boba's lines (originally voiced by Jason Wingreen) for the 2004 DVD release of The Empire Strikes Back was a lot more contentious. With this episode, most fans seem to agree that Morrison truly made the part his own.
