YMMV / Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note

Go To

  • Fan-Preferred Couple: When Sunahara appeared in episode 5, the western viewers immediately picked up Sunahara X Aya and prefer it over the "default" Wakatake X Aya, reasoning that a Nice Guy like Sunahara is a better choice to introverted Aya than the Hot-Blooded, impulsive, and occasionally jerkass Wakatake.
  • Sequel Displacement: A case of the Spiritual Successor overtaking the original. Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note is obviously more visible than the Cut Short light novel KZ Shonen Shoujo Seminar that it is adapted from.
  • Tear Jerker: The second part of episode 8, when Aya suffers a case of (downplayed, admittedly) Star-Crossed Lovers at an age before she even understands romantic love. Sunahara is the person she considers to be the nicest guy she has met up to this point. And then after knowing the Detective Team's conclusions on contaminated beef would bankrupt his family company, what she can only morally do is to lessen its impact on them, by telling Sunahara before Wakatake's going to name-and-shame them. In the end Sunahara returns her feelings (in friendship terms—but then they're tweens), before leaving without a trace (maybe except his phone number).
Aya, with a Longing Look: Hey, Sunahara, I'm proud of you. You're my fifth friend, after all. Forever and ever.
