• Alternate Character Interpretation:
  • Cancer Deathmask and Pisces Aphrodite. Are they really just the Card-Carrying Villain or are they just a type of '90s Anti-Hero.
  • Happens as well with Capricorn Shura, better remembered for his Lawful Stupid characterization in the classic anime, and taken even further with his original manga incarnation, where he was among the Gold Saints who stayed loyal to the fake Pope even after finding out the truth.
• Awesome Art: While the new character designs are diviside, the manga is pure Scenery Porn; specialy the new armor designs and the special attacks used during battles.
• Anvilicious: One of the criticisms regarding the series is that the back and forths between the Gold Saints and the Titans about humanity and godhood start to get repetitive and grating after a while.
• Broken Base: Megumu Okada's artstyle divided the fanbase due to how different everybody looks compared to the original series.
• Designated Hero: Deathmask, Aphrodite and Saga's evil side. Despite being traitors of the Sanctuary, they are seen as Well-Intentioned Extremists for protecting the world from the Titans.
• Funny Moments: The giant who took on Deathmask, in a Black Comedy way. There's something incredibly funny in the poor Giant trembling in fear as soon as he realizes who he's dealing with, or cockily threatening Shaka before Deathmask intervened to claim the fight.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Aiolia and Shaka's fight in the original series seem a lot worse when you consider how the two became good friends in Episode G.
• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Both Deathmask and Aphrodite, on the fact that they actually seem to be quite powerful in their fights this time around. They're also portrayed more as '90s Anti-Hero than straight bad guys.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The Gold Saints in general. Fans expected the series to focus in the entire group, highlighting their past and motivations rather than just Aiolia's, who alredy had a backstory in the original series.
