  • Award Snub: Lost the Oscar to The Cat Concerto. It wasn't even nominated.
  • Broken Base: Were the striking similarities between this cartoon and The Cat Concerto a bizarre coincidence or not? And even among those who say it’s not, who copied whom is up for debate.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The entire debacle between it and The Cat Concerto becomes funny in the end after Tom and Jerry producer Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer bought United Artists (then the distributor of the pre-1949 color Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies library) in 1982, brings the shorts under common distribution, which was followed by various ownership changes over two decades resulting in both shorts ending up with Warner Bros.
  • Never Live It Down: This short will always be remembered for the scene where Bugs shot someone for coughing. Notably, the later cartoon Baton Bunny has him simply hold up a “THROW THE BUM OUT!” sign instead.
