  • Arc Fatigue: The Misaki City Arc. Once Satsuki's story ends, the plot only gets side tracked and meanders into a murder mystery that is boring compared to what came before it. Outside of a specific Reveal at the end of the arc, nothing actually relevant or interesting to the overall plot happens, to the point readers might come to wish Shirou finally comes back to Fuyuki City where the rest of the cast is Out of Focus. Even the author admitted to not being happy with how it turned out.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Jin and Jun trying to writhe over to each other so that they may be Together in Death when Caster moves in for the kill. She then freezes them so they stay apart. Luckily for them, Waver manages to pull off a trope aversion.
  • Growing the Beard: The first few chapters are rougher than the rest of the story. The quality of the writing improves noticeably around Stirring Shadows, when the author acquires a beta-reader.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Taiga actually took pictures of a half-naked Shirou in an attempt to get him some girlfriends. In Prisma Illya 2wei Herz, it's revealed that Irisviel did the same thing, though she was being her usual teasing self.
  • The Woobie:
    • Matou Sakura, as per canon.
    • Satsuki, as a result of her unwilling vampirism. It's not helped by the fact that she impulsively snuck out of her house to avoid worrying and burdening her parents, so they'll likely never realize why or where she's gone.
    • Kenta's father went nuts after his mother died giving birth to him, and he ends up being possessed and killing his caretaker, who loved him like she was his own mother.
    • Angra Mainyu, with Shirou dreaming about someone being mercilessly victimized and tortured as The Scapegoat. Poor shmuck was sobbing and pleading his torturers all this time, repeating he didn't want to become the embodiment of evil. As if he couldn't be more pitiful...
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The feelings of some readers once the Holy Grail War starts in earnest. While it was known from the Action Prologue that the Fifth Holy Grail War was a Foregone Conclusion, many feel that the story was at its best when it was a Super Fic and focused on Shirou being a vigilante. Now the story seems to be barely distinguishable from the other myriad of "Shirou comes to the War more competent" fanfics, removing the originality of story that made it appealing to readers in the first place.
