YMMV / One Finger Death Punch

  • Awesome Music:
    • The level music is a great mix of contemporary and chop-sockey.
    • Shaolin Warrior. Starting a level out with this upbeat music while killing seemingly endless mobs of stickmen? Why not?!
    • The Last Hit theme, which plays when you're down to one hit and the Golden Sword comes down from the sky for your epic Last Stand.
    • The trailer song is awesome: "Kung Fu Yu" by BBOSS.
    • The song in the 2nd trailer is so epic, you feel like you're unstoppable.
  • Breather Level: The Survival Rounds in the campaign mode don't give you a specific objective and just let you grind your mastery points and proceed with the campaign whenever you like. You don't even have to play them to proceed.
  • Demonic Spiders: Any enemy that requires 4 hits to kill. They often require a comparitive ton of time and attention to deal with, and unlike Brawlers, Mook Chivalry is not in effect while you're dealing with him, so you can easily get sucker punched from behind.
    • Brawlers themselves in Light Sword and Nunchaku Rounds make for harder bosses than the actual bosses of the game. By the time you get to them, the game speed has likely ramped up tremendously, forcing the player to input an extremely long combo at an incredibly fast rate. Brawlers also fall under this category during Speed Rounds, forcing the player to waste a lot of time just to kill one enemy unless they have a means to One-Hit Kill them.
  • Goddamn Bats: The black ? enemies (who's lifebars are completely hidden) that show up at the end of Master difficulty and all throughout Grandmaster difficulty. For one thing, the game outright lies about them, telling the player that they're all 3-4 hit enemies, when in reality most of them are 1-hit grey enemies, likely throwing off the player. However, there are still 3-4 hit variants, throwing them off even further.
  • Good Bad Bugs: It's rare, but possible to trigger a slow-mo kill animation on a boss, leading to the hilariously bizarre situation of the player punching a boss' heart clean out of their body, only for them to get right back up and keep coming at you.
  • Growing the Beard: Hopefully this ends up growing Silver Dollar's collective beard.
    • Even Better Sequel: Proven with the reception of the sequel. However...
    • One-Hit Wonder: One Finger Death Punch and its sequel might've been the only hit Silver Dollar ever made so far.
  • That One Achievement: Most of them are very easy to get, but the ones that take the cake are in Survival mode. The longer you survive and defeat enemies, the faster they go. And they don't stop accelerating until you finally succumb. It's no wonder that very few people have 7000+ kills in the regular Survival mode (not counting the ones in the Endless levels). Even the developers themselves admitted that the highest they could get was about 2000.
    • But perhaps the other two modes are worth mentioning. While they require lower killcounts to achieve, their separate difficulties qualifies as well. Play blind or shove a distracting cat out of the way.
