• Arc Fatigue: During "OiramOiram12345 And The Dark Star X", a miniseries called "Ztarragus' Island X" ran from during Part 16 until the beginning of Part 21. The titular villains of the movie and the dopples had their roles severely reduced during the entire arc, the arc in general contributed very little to the main storyline, and it has gotten to the point where even the characters were getting tired of it.
• Audience-Alienating Era: 2014 to 2017 (Though some may think 2013 was the start of it) was NOT a good era for MM54321's channel. During this era, one of his most criticized movies yet , "Back to The Fourth Dimension", was released. Common problems with the movie were the SMG4 scenes, and the movie itself being rushed (Admitted by MarioMario54321 himself). The only other story-driven videos released during this period were both parts of the much-better received Dark Moon World, which introduced Zaether. Dark Moon World is also the first installment of the Zaether story arc. However, Zaether himself was absent from the MM videos for 3 years straight after Dark Moon World due to the fact that the videos that premiered after Dark Moon World up to the end of 2017 were videos that were not story-driven tended to have problems such as repetitive jokes. Thankfully, 2018 was where things finally turned around for his channel, with the humor in his videos being less repetitive. And in December of that year, MM54321's first story-driven movie since 2015 named "Down To The Core" premiered, and was highly praised. Despite this, MM's popularity is still rather below the likes of SMG4.
• Fandom Rivalry: With SuperMarioGlitchy4/SMG4 , ever since the latter's surge in popularity and increasingly more beloved style, to the point that some argue that SMG4 has since surpassed MM54321, while others will say that SMG4's comedic, energetic, fast-paced, meme-heavy style doesn't hold a candle to MM54321's straightforward, cinematic, slow-burning, epic storylines. However, when SMG4 began crafting story arcs of his own, starting with The Waluigi Arc in 2018, which came to be very well-received, which gave way to the even more beloved Anime Arc, which were admittedly fast-paced and yet delivered in solid comedy, drama, and Character Development in a quite powerful package, while some have noticed MM's unfortunately rather bland-dialogue and infamous Arc Fatigue in comparison, which may have caused his popularity to wane, especially come 2017, while SMG4's has rose and only continues to grow.
• Growing the Beard: During his prime, MarioMario54321 was already a fairly beloved machinima channel due to his vast imagination and his (mostly) consistent uploading schedule. However, ask any fan what skyrocketed his channel, and they'll often say it's his more story-driven series such as the much beloved Doppleganger Saga or the Cosmic Crystal series, which revealed MarioMario54321's knack for excellent story telling and his ability to tell grand epics. Some even go so far as to say he was a Genre Turning Point for Mario 64 machinimas.
  • "OiramOiram12345 And The Dark Star X", in particular is often considered the best series out of the entire Doppleganger Saga, thanks in large part for it's much more serious tone compared to previous stories, the Dopples themselves managing to be both compelling enough to sympathize with yet also despicable enough to wanna see taken down, the quite often excellent and epic choices in music for it's soundtrack, and for developing several beloved characters, as well as giving fresh layers to them that were never seen before. There is a reason why it's still fondly remember as his best work.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Novuscurous is by far one of the most unsettling villains in MarioMario54321's videos, he has used all of his so-called allies including the Lanu Spirits, his own creations. Oh, and his suppressed form is his giant floating head with yellow and pupil-less eyes, and his true form reveals he is the Star World Counterpart of Dry Bowser.
  • Zaether from "The Dark Moon World", the sequel to "The Moon World". His first and currently only appearance has Mario running into him in a dark area of Ztar Castle, with his physical appearance excluding his eyes completely covered by the darkness of the room. When Mario tries to stop him from getting.... whatever that object was, he easily defeats Mario by tormenting him with flashes of light. It was then later revealed that ''no one'' knows who he is, and his sudden appearance causes Cosmitalitaurus to be more concerned about the safety of the Star World. Everything about him, and what he really plans to do with the unseen object will remain unknown until his next appearance.
