YMMV / Grizzly Park

Go To

  • Magnificent Bastard: Ranger Bob initially leads a group of delinquents in an effort to clean Grizzly Park in the hope of rehabilitating them. Upon discovering that some of the delinquents he is supervising got off lightly for more heinous crimes, Bob tries to get them to learn from their misdeeds, only to be ignored. When the delinquents continue to act disruptively, Bob sets a grizzly bear on the delinquents, eliminating them one at a time before comforting the Final Girl when he finds her. Later overhearing her bragging she fooled him, as well as contemplating Bob's murder, Bob sets the bear on her, before framing an escaped convict for the deaths that the bear caused.
  • Moral Event Horizon: This is a film with despicable characters and some of them crossed limits:
    • Butch killed and raped eleven women before the film started and during his escape he killed a policeman, a guard, a driver and a ranger. He probably would have killed more if he hadn't been killed by the bear.
    • Kiki poisoned her mother to death for her implying that she spent money for clothes, Ty deceived the elderly in an asylum, ending with two of them dying. Ty and Kiki do not regret their crimes and still plan to enter a criminal scheme together. Thankfully, they are the first in the group to die.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Audiences may recognize Zulay Henao, who plays Lola, from her role in True Memoirs of an International Assassin or in the Channing Tatum movie Fighting.
  • Rooting for the Empire: The movie never tries to make the delinquents sympathetic, and when they say why they've been sent there, most viewers root for the bear to eat them all.
  • So Bad, It's Good: Yes, it's pretty much just a Slasher Movie but with a bear instead. But with the cool effects, Black Comedy, and decent acting despite playing one dimensional characters makes it somewhat enjoyable.
