• Awesome Music:
  • "uni-verse," by Masayoshi Oishi, is the movie's beautiful theme song that does an amazing job bringing the feels out of the listeners.
  • "Human Love CHHF 2023" is another rocking remix of GRIDMAN's battle theme that trades in the fast-paced tension of "HumanLove_CH_metal_all" for more steady beats.
• Die for Our Ship: Even back in the days of SSSS.GRIDMAN's initial airing, Yuta got plenty of hate from fans of the AkaneXRikka pairing. With GRIDMAN UNIVERSE coming into the picture, the sentiment has increased tenfold, as not only does the movie focus heavily on his feelings for Rikka, but he successfully became an Official Couple with her by the end. Granted, it's not as though AkaneXRikka was possible regardless given they inhabit different worlds, but some fans were still miffed that the post-series sound drama introducing an Identical Stranger to her that Rikka gets Ship Tease with is nowhere to be seen.
• Ship Sinking: If the popular yuri ship RikkaXAkane wasn't already sunk by the fact that Akane can't stay in the Computer World she created in order to stop running away from reality and live in the real world, then this movie completely sunk it with Yuta finally working up the courage to ask Rikka out in the finale of the movie and her accepting. To say that fans of the ship weren't happy would be putting it lightly.
• Unexpected Character: While Akane reappearing wasn't too surprising, given her massive popularity and her role in the GRIDMAN anime, Alexis Kerib returning (and undergoing a Heel–Face Turn) was something nobody saw coming.
