- Award Snub: Was nominated for the 2004 Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program but lost against The Simpsons episode "Three Gays of the Condo".
- Tear Jerker: Easily the most famous ending of any Futurama episode and one of the most notoriously tragic in all of TV animation: after discovering that Seymour lived for a few more years after he was frozen, Fry humbly assumes that he probably moved on and that it would be unfair to bring his dog, who probably doesn't remember him, back to life just to satisfy his own happiness. As it turns out, Seymour spent those last few years waiting in front of the pizza place for Fry to come back. The episode ends on and older, scraggly-looking Seymour sadly resting his head down on the curb and the Foregone Conclusion that Fry never came back, his dog died waiting for him and neither of them will ever know the truth.note The ending devastated so many fans that they wrote hate mail to the producers."I used to think maybe you loved me/Now I know that it's true/And I don't want to spend my whole life/Just in waiting for you."
