- Accidental Innuendo: Asuka should have chosen a better way to phrase her opinion on Shinji’s aiming skills…Misato:"The rookie did good, […] In fact I think he did better than your first time, Asuka."
Asuka:"My first time was at the age of seven, […] Besides, it's all just point and squirt; you'd expect a boy to be capable of that by his age. […] Ugh! Please don't ever quote that out of context. Or at all, in fact." - Alternative Character Interpretation:
- Rei’s origin is pretty different from canon: In this story, Rei was born two years after Gendo and Naoko stopped dating, and the elder Akagi replaced Yui’s DNA with hers.
- Naoko was not a nice person in canon. In this story she is utterly unlikeable.
- Aluminium Christmas Trees: Some readers were surprised to find out that The Ethical Slut is a real book.
- Strangled by the Red String: In the first draft of the story, the characters hook up and are oddly okay with the idea of a three-way relationship awfully fast, especially given their initial reluctance to form lasting relationships with each other. The revised version averts this with a more gradual relationship building.
