Tear Jerker / Doing It Right This Time

• Shinji wakes up, ponders that he has no way to prevent the incoming madness and thinks this is how Asuka felt near the end: useless and powerless.
• According to Asuka, Shinji jerking off over her comatose body was, comparatively speaking, the least awful thing that happened to her that week.
• Rei talks to Shinji and Asuka and tells them she did not look forward to anything other than the peace of death in her past life. In response to this, they both hug her.
