• Complete Monster:
  • Lord D(a)emon is the demon lord and master of all Virus Digimon and the driving force of evil in the story. Daemon kickstarted a war in the Digital World to slowly tear it apart and kill everything in his forces' paths, and regularly sent out his homicidal generals and commanders who put countless Digimon in danger. Callously murdering any of his minions who fail or attempt to betray him, Daemon cares about no one but himself. He sires a child, Arkadimon, and brings in a human named Neo Saiba to raise it into a killing machine. Daemon corrupts the young Neo into becoming a ruthless psychopath who kills hundreds of Digimon while training the powerful Arkadimon in the ways of destruction. Though seemingly betrayed and killed by Neo, Daemon arises in the end to reveal his true machinations, devouring Arkadimon from the inside out and boasting his plans to bring death and destruction to both the human and Digital World, wiping out all life on both he sees fit until only those he deems worthy of his rule are left alive.
  • Myotismon, also known as Lord Vamde(mon), is a bloodthirsty sadist with the ability to poison the souls of Digimon. Driving an entire town of Digimon to the brink of annihilation by forcing the residents to kill each other, Myotismon captures Tai and brutally beats the boy before attempting to force his Digimon Zero to butcher the boy, all to Myotismon's utter delight. Returning from his seeming death as VenomMyotismon, he takes part in a massacre of the Holy Castle, slaughtering everyone in his path while cackling before attempting to butcher an entire group of Digimon children while forcing their teacher, Leomon, to watch.
• Funny Moments: In chapter 14, when Zero has accepted the challenges of Starmon and his associates, things go comically wrong due to Tai having uplinked unrelated doodles in addition to his notes.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In the first volume, the very first opponent Taichi and Zero are shown fighting is a Greymon. A few months later...
• Iron Woobie: Zero goes through oh so much abuse in battle and comes close to death many times.
• Jerkass Woobie:
  • Sigma and Hideto. You can't help but feel sorry for these two guys after you learn why they do what they do.
  • Mari too... if the implications of her previous line of work is to be believed, then it's no wonder she turned to what she saw as a better position in life.
  • Neo Saiba, on the other hand, is a double subversion. On the one hand, he's as vile as you can get away with in a setting like this, and is an unreptentant sadist and bully. On the other hand, halfway through the finale we find out Daemon's been poisoning his mind since the day they met, and even he's disgusted when he finds out.
