YMMV / DECO*27

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Part of the reason why his popularity as a VOCALOID producer has been so long-standing, though some notable examples are his hits "Hibana", "Ghost Rule", "Otome Kaibou" and "The Vampire".
  • Broken Base: Fans of DECO*27 are fairly split on his MANNEQUIN era due to the noticeably "same-y" melody sections and simple music videos, these combined leading some to accuse his newer songs of being lazy "Vtuber bait". There are a lot of fans that like his new songs, however, and they've all gone on to be fairly popular, especially "The Vampire", which became one of his most popular songs fairly quickly.
  • Covered Up: Expect his newer songs to spawn a few dozen utaite versions. Some notable examples include "Vampire", "Cinderella", and "Animal" which all received several covers from famous utaite such as Mafumafu and Soraru.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The version of Hatsune Miku that appears in "The Vampire". She even got a Pop-Up Parade figure from Good Smile Company and, discounting the GHOST RULE PVC figure which is based on Miku's Project DIVA module, is the first of Deco*27's Miku creations to do so.
  • Franchise Original Sin: Some fans have complained about his songs during the MANNEQUIN era sounding too similar, regarding it as though it's a recent trend. However, a number of his early songs also shared a similar melody section, such as "Hibana", "Ghost Rule" and "118".
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • "Two Breaths Walking" is incredibly heartwarming, until you get to its Sequel Song, "Android Girl" which reveals the pair broke up.
    • "YUME YUME"'s final act, shows that the "dream" the child version of Miku was drawing was her adult self all along.
    • "Snow Song Show" is brimming with this, showing Miku trying to get the world to remember Christmas after Santa Claus disappears. She succeeds, becoming the new Santa in the process, and it's capped off with an interesting cross-producer Call-Back as the ending jingle to "*Hello, Planet.".
    • "Ai Kotoba III" offers a very sweet reversal of the message in "MKDR":
The Delusion Sensation Compensation Federation / The Delusion Sensation Compensation Federation
Embraced love and shouted out their ideals / We embraced love and shouted out our ideals
A fool's melody with nowhere to go / A melody of love with somewhere to go.
    • There's also "8/31", a sweet piano song is written from DECO*27 to Miku, wishing her a happy birthday and thanking her for being there to sing for him all these years.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Some fans have criticized his music for sounding too "same-y", particularly during his MANNEQUIN era. He seemingly addressed this in his song "Chimera", saying that he just wants to invent himself with his songs and that it's up to him as to which way to go with them.
Don't throw tantrums over having to do the same old thing
Cuz then you throw tantrums over doing something new, and it starts all over again
  • Meaningful Release Date: His album MANNEQUIN, which exclusively features songs that use Hatsune Miku, was released on March 9th, otherwise known as "Miku Day".
  • Periphery Demographic: His songs are noted for being popular with teenage girls.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some fans don't like how DECO*27 tunes Miku in his MANNEQUIN era, instead preferring the older tuning heard in "Otome Kaibou" and "Ghost Rule".
  • Unexpected Character: Ten years later, not many people were expecting DECO*27 to release a sequel to 2009's "Two Breaths Walking" in the form of the song "Android Girl".
