  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Coagula and Dorothy Spinner's appearances in the anthology were met with much acclaim after they were killed off twenty years prior in John Arcudi's Doom Patrol run and had not been resurrected in spite of other members of the Doom Patrol returning from the dead and the history of the DCU being rewritten at least three times since (with Elasti-Girl and Celsius in fact owing their resurrections to the Cosmic Retcons caused by Infinite Crisis and Rebirth respectively). Unfortunately for many, the following series Unstoppable Doom Patrol would go on to act as though their return didn't happen, with the sixth issue even featuring Dorothy's dead body being dug up by the Brotherhood of Evil for a ritual to summon the Candlemaker, an enemy Dorothy originally defeated at the end of Grant Morrison's run. Tasteless as that already was, Unstoppable Doom Patrol writer Dennis Culver announced online that he was keeping Kate and Dorothy deceased literal days before Kate's creator Rachel Pollack passed away in real life, which makes the dedication to her memory in the miniseries' third issue come off as insincere.
    • The Bendisboot Legion was originally not going to be featured at all in Superpride. Jude Deluca pragmatically mentioned that neither he or Devin Grayson had any idea if Brian Bendis already planned to make any of his Legionnaires queer, and so justified wanting to use older versions of the characters to avoid any contradictions with future Bendisboot issues. Not only did editorial insist on Bendis's Legionnaires, but their appearance in the story ended up being the only time their sexual orientations (Dawnstar being bisexual, Brainiac 5 being demisexual) were discussed in any printed issues. As such, that meant the only real queer representation to appear in the Bendisboot Legionnaires happened completely by accident with no involvement from their creator.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Doom Patrol fans flocked to this book for the appearances from Dorothy Spinner and Coagula twenty years after they were killed off, while Legion of Super-Heroes fans were drawn to it for several Legionnaires getting their sexual identities validated on panel for the first time in decades. Both sets of fans were rather annoyed that these respective developments were ignored by issues released afterwards.
  • Misblamed: Devin Grayson received a lot of criticism on social media about the Jon and Damian Wayne elements of her story, from Damian's behavior to Jon's discussion equating the original Pride to a party. Grayson herself was specifically told by her editors that "Pride is a party" was how they wanted the story to read, and wasn't given the reading material she asked for to properly get a handle on Damian and Jon's personalities. Furthermore, writer Jude Deluca was vocal about how Grayson asked for his unofficial consultation on the story and admitted he had missed the elements people complained about because he was more focused on the Legionnaires appearing with Coagula and Dorothy Spinner. Despite the fact he could've prevented this from happening (which he also admitted), he didn't receive even a fraction of the vitriol Grayson herself got for the missteps. Regardless, she left social media and DC quietly edited the story in the hardcover edition to address the complaints.
  • Unexpected Character: Connor Hawke's story features a long-awaited Canon Immigrant: Batman: The Brave and the Bold's resident Ensemble Dark Horse, The Music Meister himself!
