YMMV / Classic Singapore Horror Stories

  • Complete Monster: The titular "Prahma The Horned God" is an eldritch deity from ancient times who runs the Cult of Prahma in the Middle East. Demanding ritual sacrifices on a regular basis, Prahma would have his High Priestess Sharkillah organize mass sacrifices of children through disembowelment and feasting of their flesh. Running his cult for centuries until it was eventually overthrown, Prahma retreats into his bronze idol and has his immortal priestess Sharkillah resurrect him in modern times, by granting his followers Three Wishes in exchange for being restored in the present. After being purchased by the unwitting Professor Rashid and his wife Carmen, Prahma grants the couple's wish for wealth by killing their only son, Adam, in exchange for the insurance and compensation money, and took further advantage of the grieving couple when they wished for Adam's return by possessing Adam's soul to infiltrate the human world.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Some of the stories are really pushing the boundaries on what you can include in a story meant for general viewing. Get some Brain Bleach ready.
    • One Last Cold Kiss: The main character is a morgue worker who is lonely in life, who decides to steal a supermodel's corpse after falling in love with it and keep it in his bedroom. He then spends his nights having sex with the body, until somehow the corpse becomes pregnant. Unfortunately rigor mortis have already set in, the stench of the decomposing carcass started attracting the attention of neighbours who began banging on his apartment door. Unwilling to part with his love, the morgue worker then proceed to dismember and feast on the rotting, pregnant corpse - raw - until he succumbed to the stench. When the police is summoned and eventually broke down his door, they find the morgue worker's dead body, heavily bloated, right next to a pile of human bones.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Some of the characters crosses this line...
    • Jessica Kwan from Paint it Black, when she personally murders the grieving Gopal Balla for his wealth.
    • Jimmy from One Night in Bangkok, after contracting AIDs, attempts to rape his sister and transfer the disease to his brother-in-law, out of spite.
    • Ah Boy from Ghost Riders when he deliberately urinates on Annie after physically and sexually abusing her.
    • Moses Neo from China Bride, for having his abused, long-suffering mistress and her lover stripped naked and boiled alive in lard.
    • Professor Narul from Checkmate, who murders Kermit Singh in cold blood after realizing Singh is a superior chess player compared to him.
    • Veronica from Little Devil is desperate to claim her colleague and crush, Ian for herself, despite Ian having a pregnant wife, to the extent of asking a Malaysian witch doctor to use black magic and rip Ian's family apart, culminating in the death of Ian's wife and newborn son.
  • The Woobie: Damien Sin likes this trope a lot too, and occasionally includes characters whom the readers can't help but feel sorry for.
    • A rather notable example with Annie from Ghost Riders, a harmless, chubby girl who is unlucky in her love life and accidentally mingled with bad company by partying with a bunch of biker punks. For rubbing them off the wrong way she gets abused, punched and kicked repeatedly, forced to perform oral in public, verbally insulted while she is crying her eyes out, and eventually humiliated to the point where she is Driven to Suicide. All this happens in one night, by the way. Its implied that her ghost made her tormentor suffer a Fate Worse than Death, or he was simply hallucinating from excessive drug use combined with guilt, but it isn't made clear.
    • Mary from Moon In A Puddle is a physically deformed young girl with a swollen head, spindly limbs and a permanent hunched back due to her deformities, who was abandoned by her family in a Christian fellowship. When Jacky Fun, a troubled youth forced to join the fellowship, unexpectedly gets to know her, they end up befriending each other through unlikely circumstances and unintentionally begin changing each other's lives for the better. However, Jacky refuses to acknowledge Mary as a friend due to her deformity; the subsequent Despair Event Horizon leads to Mary hanging herself on a rope. Worse of all though, because of her deformity causing her body weight to be lower than normal, Mary doesn't die immediately but spends several minutes caught on the noose she made for herself before dying rather slowly.
