  • Fridge Horror: The main quest, Stop for Directions, has the player kill Camp Miners to get a map of a dungeon. They drop a "Passed around Paper," that can reveal itself as a map piece, a tear-covered photo of their family, or a letter of their struggles and promise to return home. Let that sink in. These "enemies" are still human, and are forced to work by the Black Kinght in order to spare and return to their families, and you just killed them in hopes of getting the map.
    • In one of the Sky Tower Floors, getting hit by a red carpet makes you turn into a tree and become a breeding ground for monsters. Take that as what you will.
  • That One Boss: Toto, a large turtle from a Lv 50 Instance. In a game where most Area of Effect boss moves are shown beforehand as a large red circle before they hit, Toto can suddenly spawn water blades on players which gradually deal more and more damage, if the players do not notice it and move out quickly.
    • The Lv 55 content update brings Helakar. Oh, he's casting an Area of Effect spell with red lines? All the DPS dodge it... then they die anyway. As it turns out, if even one player gets caught in that attack, the damage is reflected to all players. One reflect will knock off around half a player's health, and two or more at the same time can easily cause a Total Party Kill. Have fun asking everyone in random parties to avoid the red line for the sake of the entire party, if they think they can survive the hit.
    • That One Level: Wrathborne Temple. People who do not like to dodge those red lines will learn the consequence of not doing so, after they gethit by 6-10 of random projectiles at the same time.
  • The Scrappy: Duelists tend to end up as this. Thanks to a certain sword wielding main character in an Anime, it's a very popular class despite not being the easiest to use. The game also suggests an Evasion build for them that sacrifices actual Defense and HP, but problems come when they enter dungeons. Bosses tend to cast their Area of Effect on the Tank, which so happens to be right beside the melee-DPS Duelist. These skills also have a much higher Accuracy than normal, which means Evasion Duelists can and will get OHKO'd if they don't manually dodge. Which most don't. As a result, "Kirito" has started to become a derogatory term for Duelists who don't know what they're doing.
    • The Eidolons Sigrun and Gigas are this since they're already given to players for free, but you still have a chance to spawn them for keys that you already have. Gigas could be reaching mementic status since Sigrun at least has useful skills.
    • The Grenadier class became this, a they are a popular class for bots to use due to their sturdiness and ability to paralyze foes easily.
  • Wangst: Overlaps with Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds. Reinhardt logic: Wife just died of illness, I'd better destroy the world. To be fair, though, he claims that Belenus didn't want to get the possible cure from Sky Tower, while Belenus argued that it should only be used in the most important of the most important times. How far each character is telling the truth is yet to be known.
    • It's later revealed that both of them were telling the truth, or were at least sincere in their belief. At the final battle against Reinhardt, a mirror of the dream at the start of the story, Belenus uses the legendary medicine to revive everyone Reinhardt killed, including Andre, Victoria, Anya, and the Player Character. Reinhardt's wife Luciana appears as an angel and convinces him to give up, and they both disappear; she was apparently also the one who gave the Player Character the prophetic dream. Belenus himself sacrifices his remaining life to act as a Barrier Maiden and seal off the hellrift that Reinhardt had opened. So, Reinhardt was telling the truth about Belenus' unwillingness to use the cure for Luciana, but Belenus was equally sincere in his determination to only use the cure in the most dire of situations. Both were willing to die for their beliefs.
