- Corrupt Corporate Executive: The two block people fight Olivia and Tommy just because they both got fired.
- Did You Actually Believe...?: Tommy thought he was getting a cookie. Instead he got a virus.
- Emotion Suppression: Olivia loses emotions when she is a soldier.
- Everyone Can See It: Tommy has a very obvious crush on Olivia.
- Frame Break: Zelda and everyone else start breaking the walls of frames.
- Inside a Computer System: All of the characters were born inside of a file called aweosme.exe, but they escape the computer file, but not the actual computer so it's double subverted.
- Relationship Upgrade: Tommy and Olivia are a couple after Olivia isn't a soldier anymore.
- Time Machine: In the special time travel strip, it can only go forward. Also, it's all in Tommy's dream.
- No Fourth Wall: Tommy references the readers getting confused after Zelda introduces her name.
- No Punctuation Period: The comic mostly uses no punctuation.
