Sharknado and Airplane! are in the same universe

- Actually watching Airplane II: The Sequel again with having a base on the moon matches the tech level in the space segment in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!.
Matt taught Fin how to operate aircraft in between Sharknado and Sharknado 2: The Second One.
Fin is able to perform an emergency landing on a 747 with little trouble. Piloting was a skill he lacked in the first film, so he asked Matt to teach him in case Fin ever needed to do so.- Confirmed in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!.
Fin's necklace is cursed.
He very conspicuously wears a shark-tooth necklace throughout the films. Perhaps this was a cursed relic he picked up in his surfing days that causes the Sharknados to form and haunt him. That's why the sharks can exist in the air for so long and are easily cut through—they're mystical constructs rather than real sharks.
