Purrfect Tale is a Chinese Visual Novel and Virtual Pet game about adopting cats, some of which can turn into humans.
You're a teenage girl. One day, you come across an orange cat in a box. To your surprise, not only the cat can speak, but can also turn into a boy.
Purrfect Tale has the following tropes:
- Bad People Abuse Animals: Animal abuse is one of the main points of the story, with the protagonists trying to punish a bad shelter.
- Subverted when the shelter turns out to be simply underfunded.
- Birthday Episode: Several events are themed after character’s birthdays, and Chapter 6 is when the player and Oliver first celebrate the latter’s birthday.
- Coming of Age Story: The story involves the protagonist graduating from high school and university into adulthood.
- Humanity Ensues: The main selling point, where several cats can transform to their human forms.
- Little Bit Beastly: The cats' human forms, while otherwise indistinguishable from actual humans, have cat ears on top of their head.
- Vacation Episode: Chapter 6, where the protagonist and Oliver take a train to Mount Emei to eat grilled skewers and see pandas.
