twice. is an Idle Game by yhvr released in 2021. You can click two buttons to increase either light or darkness. Once you have enough of either, you can buy upgrades that show up to boost production or otherwise improve gains. As the name suggests, the game's are balanced around using both sides and doing things twice.

The game is playable here.

This game provides examples of:

  • Cap:
    • Colors don't go below -10.
    • Yin's effect is hardcapped at x1e10. The last light upgrade pushes it by 2,500, eventually capping at x2.5e13.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: Most of the entire game only uses black and white. That said, the reset buttons for yin/yang and a few bars use different shades of gray.
  • Diminishing Returns for Balance: Your light and darkness production is strongly lowered the more of it you have. Some upgrades weaken it and encourage you to use both sides by boosting if the other side has more.
  • Export Save: You can press a button in the options to export the 200+ byte save file and another to paste it into a window that pops up.
  • Light/Darkness Juxtaposition: The entire game has two sides, one with light and one with darkness, with you being intended to use both. Both sides have slightly different mechanics and upgrades, but a lot of them are also shared.
  • New Game Plus:
    • At 1,000 light/darkness, you can perform a yin/yang reset respectively. The former boosts light/darkness gain and grants advancements, while the latter produces white/black that multiplies light/darkness respectively while slowly decreasing the other color.
    • Once you have 1e20 darkness, you can go grey to make the end screen show up and restart the whole game with double production.
  • Reset Milestones: Starting from 5 yin, reaching enough yin grants a yin advancement that autobuys all upgrades, makes clicks affect both light and darkness, unlocks new upgrades, or keeps yin advancements on reset.
  • Shout-Out: Yang's mechanic of producing one of two resources based on how far you set it on a side while weakening the other and eventually removing the drawbacks as well as producing both is taken from the Balance layer of Prestige Tree.
