"Swiper, no swiping...AND I MEAN IT!!"

Dora Is Dead is a 2018 quick indie adventure horror game created by Dave Microwaves Games on the game engine Unreal Engine 4. It centers around themes and characters from educational children's show, Dora the Explorer.

You play as Swiper, who wakes up in an abandoned warehouse and has to quickly escape to safety while avoiding undead (and legless) Dora, who is out for your legs...and your blood.

A remastered version of the game was released in December of 2018, which includes more Swiper dialogue and a more detailed Dora model.

Game includes examples of:

  • Ambiguous Situation: We're given little to no clue as to how Dora was killed, who did it, and why. The fact that her legs are missing suggests that her killer either wanted her legs, or they severed them For the Evulz. However, the fact that Dora's tormented undead self kidnapped Swiper of all people to take his legs (as opposed to, you know, someone with human legs), coupled with how she aggressively crawls after him in the game, heavily implies that he may have had a hand in her and Boots' death. It's likely that in one of his attempts at swiping from her, he became too forceful, with fatal results.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Dora has no legs, and so crawls after Swiper for the duration of the game. If she catches him, the Game Over screen depicts her having ripped his legs off and attached them to herself.
  • Black Screen of Death: If Dora catches you, after which she gets up in your face, the screen goes black. Then you're treated to an ending screen showing a bloodied, bisected Swiper, and Dora wearing his legs looking down on him.
  • Bloody Horror: The floors in the warehouse has puddles of blood, likely Dora's, as ambient decoration
  • Death of a Child: It's heavily implied that at some point before the game, Swiper did something (possibly accidentally) that led to Dora's death, and she Came Back Wrong for revenge.
  • Jumpscare: Dora gives one if she catches the player. At a later point, a demonic variant of Boots appears from nowhere to rush the player while screeching.
  • Madness Mantra: Whenever Dora is nearby, she repeats her series Catchphrase "Swiper no swiping" in a demonic voice.
  • Peek-a-Boo Corpse: In one of the rooms you find Dora's body latched to the wall, covered in black and red holes either meant to be gunshot wounds or knife wounds. In another room you find Backpack, also covered in blood. The Map can also be seen pinned to the wall with a blood streak.
  • Wham Shot: For players who haven't read the game's description before playing, the shot of Swiper fleeing the warehouse can come as a surprise to them.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Whoever killed Dora was not sufficiently satisfied with just brutally killing her, they somehow felt the need to bisect her from the waist down too.
