Season 1

  • Gabby counts in general as a result of being a Designated Hero bordering on a Creator's Pet. The narrative clearly wants you to root for her, feel bad for her, and paints her as being in the right all the time. Quite a lot of her behavior might result in the opposite reaction, as it's hard for one half of the fanbase to see her as sympathetic when she threatens to kill several characters across the season, is never called out for contributing to her team's loss in Episode 1, betrays Dan and Miriam, or sides with the Big Bad Ensemble and acts as if she was wrongfully blindsided by them when she herself treated blindsiding Lill, Ashley, and Dan as a just Revenge against them.
  • In Episode 5, Ashley and Lill are onto Fiore and her actions and even steal her notebook just to confirm their suspicions. While it's true that Fiore is evil, Lill and Ashley stealing from her makes them no better. Fiore even tells them they didn't have the right to take her notebook.
  • In Episode 11, Jake and Ellie both can be seen as this depending on the person. Jake's trauma around his ex and the deaths in his family make his emotional instability understandable, but his treatment of Ellie over her role in Tom's vote out comes off as extremely hypocritical and deflective as he himself voted out Tom. Ellie's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Jake has her raise valid points about Jake using his trauma as an excuse to be a dick to her as well as his victim complex, but goes too far when she blames him for being cheated on and mocking him for it.
  • In Episode 12, while Miriam is meant to come off as Retired Badass who delivers karma to Fiore, her Would Hurt a Child tendencies throughout the episode, causing Fiore to get hurt in some way in three out of five challenges (by throwing her off the cliff, letting go of the rope so that she'd fall, and throwing her at the flag) can make her this for some as violent behavior towards a child is generally frowned upon, even if towards an Enfant Terrible.
  • Speaking of Miriam, the narrative paints her as a smart The Strategist for the way she eliminated Ellie by pretending to have a heart attack to steal her shovel when Ellie leans towards her, so that she can throw it away and outrun her. However, for many viewers, pretending to have a heart attack to use the good side of Ellie's nature against her crossed serious lines.

Season 2

  • Hunter has a few moments:
    • Him taking some of Tess's antidepressant pills without her knowledge to save them in case she needs an emergency is portrayed as an act of caring for a friend and she doesn't bat an eye to it, but one can easily interpret it as creepy and an invasion of her privacy instead.
    • Him telling the girls to wait for his answer regarding the Love Triangle until after the show is over isn't meant to be malicious and neither of the girls minds it, but it might come off to some viewers as him wanting to play around with both girls for as long as he can before he commits to any of them. Some could also see this as inconsiderate towards them and leading them on. It may also come off as prioritizing the strategy over the girls' feelings, which some viewers might agree with while others might view as inconsiderate as well.
    • For a more brief example, him asking Ally in an annoyed tone if she always makes kids cry when stressed after her secret outburst at child gamers online is revealed during the Trivia challenge is supposed to show his caring side due to empathizing with children, but it may come off as this instead, given how quick he is to judge his friend based on a situation he was provided almost no context to.
  • Tess choosing to keep quiet about the other alliances teaming up against her friendship trio and, rather than try to convince someone to switch their votes, accepting her potentially incoming elimination and happily accepting when it happens is portrayed as a good choice since it gives her moments of happiness with her friends, but it can be seen as inconsiderate to her friends as her elimination further lowers their chances of staying in the game. It may come off as even more inconsiderate towards Ally, who was also a potential target for elimination at the time.
  • Aiden and James usually have this regarding Karol, but they (especially the former) take the cake in Episode 9. The narrative paints Karol as the Big Bad for wanting Revenge against them for causing her first elimination. Not only is she justified in her feelings, but her strategy amounts to merely convincing Riya (and likely Rosa Maria as a result) to vote for one of them. Compared to her, Aiden sabotages her during a challenge, indirectly killing a tarantula she gave him to keep watch for her, injuring her legs to the point of causing her Non-Gameplay Elimination from medical evacuation, and risking the life of an innocent bystander, Oliver, in the process. While the show portrays this as a morally questionable strategy that makes Riya believe playing dirty pays off in this game, the narrative clearly wants you to root for James and Aiden to eliminate Karol in spite of this.
