Trivia / Virtua Cop

  • Dummied Out: In the first game, Rage and Smarty actually had voiced lines, implying there may have been cutscenes in the game during development. Also, the Boss's Pre-Asskicking One-Liner was shortened in the final version, but the full version of said line would imply that Joe Fang was originally the role of The Dragon instead of being the Big Bad, with the Boss being the main villain proper.
Boss: Killing Fang was quite an accomplishment. But now, you'll regret being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Virtua Cop 3 is the only game in the series that has never received a console port.
  • No Export for You: Virtua Cop: Elite Edition was released only in Japan and Europe.
  • No Port For You: Virtua Cop 3 remains arcade-exclusive to this day.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A home port of Virtua Cop 3 was planned for the Xbox, but was cancelled. Because the arcade game runs on the Xbox's Chihiro hardware (as with the case of House of the Dead 3), some have managed to run the game on the Xbox itself.
    • In Virtua Cop 3, the protagonists were originally new officers of the Virtua City Police Department led by Rage, Smarty, and Janet. A Moe aesthetic to the characters was also considered.
    • Vanessa Lewis, a character from Sega AM2's Virtua Fighter series, was planned to be a character in Virtua Cop 3. While this idea was scrapped, her unused model and textures remain in the game data.
