Trivia / The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Go To

  • California Doubling: The first season is set in Nebraska, but was filmed in Virginia.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The Stinger of the series finale, aired December 5th, 2021, features an appearance from Dr. Edwin Jenner, aired eleven years to the day of his last appearance in the first season finale of The Walking Dead (2010), “TS-19”.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Nico Tortorella, who identifies as pansexual and non-binary, plays Felix Carlucci, who is gay.
  • Reality Subtext: An unintentional example. The series finale’s Stinger introduces the concept of variants of the walker plague that cause people to reanimate faster and come back as faster, more violent, and more dangerous walkers; this came during a stage of the COVID-19 pandemic when new variants of the virus continued to rise and poise threats to the world. Word of God has confirmed that this was completely unintentional as they have no intentions to reference COVID-19.
  • Real Life Writes the Hairstyle: Eagle-eyed viewers might notice that Hope is wearing a (high-quality) wig. This is enforced by the fact that Alexa Mansour has alopecia in real life, and she wears wigs even off-camera.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Pollyanna McIntosh returns as Jadis in Season 2, three years since her last appearance on the main show.
    • Noah Emmerich returns as Dr. Edwin Jenner in The Stinger of the Grand Finale, which as noted above, aired eleven years to the day from his last appearance in “TS-19”.
  • What Could Have Been: The series was originally supposed to air after the first planned Rick Grimes movie before that trilogy entered Development Hell and was later retooled into a series.
