Trivia / The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

Go To

  • Meaningful Release Date:
    • The series premiered on February 25, 2024, six years to the day of critical Walking Dead episode "Honor" which saw the death of Carl Grimes.
    • The series finale "The Last Time" premiered on March 31, 2024, ten years and one day to the day of similarly critical Walking Dead episode "'A'" where Rick bit out Joe’s throat to save Carl. The events of that episode are actually discussed by Rick and Beale in the episode.
  • Produced by Cast Member: Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira serve as executive producers for the show.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: The show’s genesis famously came about due to accommodations needed for Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira so they could continue playing their characters. Lincoln decided to leave the main show to spend more time with his family as he lives in the UK whereas the series was filmed in Georgia for roughly six months a year, a schedule which grew increasingly more difficult as Lincoln’s children grew older. Gurira was written out of the show due to wishing to pursue other projects.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira return full-time to their roles as Rick and Michonne Grimes for the first time since 2018 and 2020, respectively, not counting their cameo in the ending of The Walking Dead.
    • Pollyanna McIntosh returns as Jadis Stokes after last appearing in the final season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond in 2021.
    • Andrew Bachelor and Breeda Wool return to their roles as Bailey and Aiden for the first time in four years since their debut at the end of 2020's "What We Become".
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The show was initially announced as a trilogy of movies before being reworked into a series. The first movie would’ve been followed by World Beyond which would’ve aired in its entirety before the second movie. As the movies were conceptualized before the departure of Danai Gurira from the original series, it was not planned for her to appear as Michonne until the second movie of the trilogy.
    • The show was originally subtitled "Summit".
  • Working Title: The show was tentatively called "The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne" by media outlets and AMC advertisements until the final title was decided on. Another working title used in production was "Summit".
  • Written by Cast Member: Danai Gurira wrote the fourth episode of the show, titled "What We".
