The TV Show
- Actor-Shared Background: Malese Jow is the only member of the cast actually from Oklahoma.
- California Doubling: The show takes place in the fictional town of of Lakewood, Oklahoma but was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- Dawson Casting: Nick Purcell (Jake) started the show at age 19 which isn't too bad, and David Del Rio (Felix) at 22... only Gage Golighty is appropriately aged for a high school show.
- Dueling Works: With Disney XD's Aaron Stone's second season. Both are science-fiction series that deal with teenagers saving the world from monsters and mutants. Plus the whole overused secret group concept.
- Both shows aired in 2009 and only ran for 2 seasons. Both shows were even filmed in Canada (although The Troop was filmed in Vancouver & Aaron Stone was filmed in Toronto)
- With Supah Ninjas as of Season 2. They both involve a secret group of teenagers that save the world and city. Both shows only ran for two seasons and ended in 2013. Also, Season 2 of The Troop and Supah Ninjas both aired in 2011.
- Only So Many Canadian Actors: The show was filmed in Vancouver, so expect to see a bunch of actors you’ve seen in shows such as Smallville, Supernatural and The Flash (2014).
The Novel
- Canada's founding holiday is July 1. The book makes reference to July 4.
