Trivia / The Outer Limits (1963) S 2 E 16 "The Premonition"

Go To

  • Recycled Script: "The Premonition" basically takes the Move in the Frozen Time sequence from the climax of The Time Travelers (written and directed by Ib Melchior, who co-wrote this episode) and builds a whole new story around the concept.
  • Those Two Actors: Dewey Martin and Mary Murphy had previously appeared together in the 1955 Humphrey Bogart film The Desperate Hours.
  • Troubled Production: The Darcys weren't the only ones racing against time. In David J. Schow's The Outer Limits Companion, director Gerd Oswald discusses all the things that went wrong.
Don Gordonnote  had originally been cast as the lead, but he got sick the night before the first day of shooting, and we scrambled around trying to find a replacement. At four o'clock in the morning, we found Dewey Martin. Then we found out the show had been cancellednote , and the pressure was really on since we'd already lost a day by replacing Gordon. Martin literally learned his lines the moment before we shot them, and getting him through was a struggle. And I'm not a big fan of Ib Melchior in the first place. Don Guest, the overseer from United Artists, told me we had to bring that show in on schedule even if we hadn't shot the ending yet.
