Trivia / The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: A surprisingly large number of big names are found here. Among them are DeForest Kelley, Farrah Fawcett, Carol Channing, just to name a few. Bizarrely, Jon Lovitz, the voice of primary character Radio from the first film, is not among them.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Jerry Rees, director of the first film, had admitted to never having watched this or the other sequel, meaning he doesn't have opinion on the films themselves, but was more disappointed that the labor of love he and his scrappy screw had poured their hearts and souls into ultimately became just another cash-grab.
  • Mythology Gag: While interrogating the Hearing Aid, Calculator tells him "As they say in the old country, 'Ve have vays of making you talk!'", alluding to the original novel where his brother went insane after being used by Adolf Hitler.
  • Non-Singing Voice
    • The song 'I See a New You' was supposed to have been sung by the Toaster. It wasn't.
      • If viewers are to be believed, it wasn't even meant for Toaster - it was supposed to be Chris who was singing it. Since neither Toaster nor Chris were shown onscreen singing that song, it left quite a few viewers confused.
    • Jim Cummings (1952) subs for Alan King as the Supreme Commander in the "Humans" song.
  • The Other Darrin: Played straight for Blanky and Radio, both of whom are recast for this film and its interquel; while Blanky's original voice actor was presumably barred from returning due to entering puberty in the decade since the first film's production, Jon Lovitz's absence is arguably more bewildering, given the film's surprising prevalence of reasonably high-profile cast members.
  • Role Reprise: Tim Stack, Thurl Ravenscroft (in one of his final acting roles) and Deanna Oliver return as Lampy, Kirby and the eponymous toaster respectively.
  • Sequel Gap: In North America, this was released 11 years after The Brave Little Toaster.
