  • Box Office Bomb: Budget: $2,750,000. Box Office: $1,000,000. It also failed when it was re-released as Crazy Music a few years later.
  • Creator Backlash: Dr. Seuss was not happy at all with the way this movie turned out, referring to it as "a debaculous fiasco." He refused even to mention it in his official memoir.
  • Cut Song: There was a whole bunch of other music written for the film by Dr. Seuss that didn't make the final cut, and only survives on old production bootlegs. As of 2010 Film Score Monthly has rectified this, however, putting out a limited-edition 3-CD set with nearly everything related to the film possible.
    Oh We Are The Guards: We are Two Terrible Twins With a Terrible Siamese Beard.
    Don't get fresh with us now, Or you will get choked by the beard of the twins with the
    Siamese beard, with a terrible twin on each end.
  • Defictionalization: "Happy Fingers" Beanies were produced after this movie came out.
  • Executive Meddling
    • The movie originally ran 135 minutes, but as the executives felt the film was too long, it was cut down to 88 minutes.
    • The studio also demanded Seuss tone down his trademark weirdness and adapt more conventionally Hollywood standards, such as a romantic subplot, which Seuss was vehemently against.
  • Life Imitates Art: Tommy Rettig went on to become an acid guru in the '60s.
  • Prop Recycling: About thirteen or fourteen years after this movie, Davy Jones would wear one of the Happy Fingers beanies in an episode of The Monkees.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Svengoolie when he aired the movie on his show, Danny Kaye was originally considered for Terwilliker and Bing Crosby was originally considered for Zapadowski.
