• Crossdressing Voices: Yuki Maeda's voices in both the original and English dub versions are provided by female voice actors. Especially interesting in the original's case, as the voice lines are taken from a female character (albeit a masculine female character).
  • In the original, undubbed version, Sora is voiced by LINUJ, the game's male creator. He applied a voice-altering system during recording that made his speech more feminine. In the English dub, however, she is voiced by zel, a woman.
• Playing Their Own Twin: Subverted. The Casting Call Club site for the English dub did allow one person to fit the roles of the Otonokoji sisters, but in the end, both twins were cast with separate VAs.
• Refitted for Sequel: Kanade Otonokoji's status as a Cute and Psycho killer is eerily similar to initial plans for the character of Kanata Inori in its predecessor.
• Shrug of God: What was written in Setsuka’s letter? LINUJ has no bloody clue.
• What Could Have Been: On LINUJ's official site, there is a lot of stuff that didn't make it to the final game.
  • Originally, Syobai was far from an amoral Jerkass he became in the proper game, being portrayed as a more sarcastic person with some passion for others intact. His and Yuri's personalities would also be switched.
  • Syobai was also at one point supposed to die back in Chapter 1 as victim, though his avatar would be the one that died, and his real self would still make an appearance in the final chapter. Something like that ended up happening to Rei instead.
  • Yuri was originally envisioned as one of the survivors.
  • Kanade originally wasn't going to be revealed as a serial killer, but after seeing the reveal of Korekiyo Shinguji in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, LINUJ decided to do his own take on it with her. Nevertheless, the Otonokoji twins were always supposed to become the culprits and Kanade revealed as the true Evil Twin between the two. According to LINUJ, the original take on Kanade would have had her reveal during her Trial that she had always hated Hibiki.
  • Setsuka's "devil's eye" was supposed to play the key role in discovering the Chapter 2 culprit, but due to LINUJ himself finding the concept too outlandish, it was reduced to being shown in her Free Time Event, as well as her body discovery scene.
  • There are also a few differences from the finished character designs to their prototypes:
    • Sora's ponytail was higher up on her head.
    • Syobai and Kokoro had outfits that were more reminiscent of school uniforms. Also, Kokoro had longer hair that was in a high ponytail.
    • Yoruko's hair was down and she had bows on her dress.
    • Nikei's scarf was originally a tie.
    • In their first sketch, Hibiki and Kanade had much frillier outfits. Also at this point, Kanade was named Hibiki and Hibiki was named Uta.
    • Most notably, Setsuka's original design and sprite had a skirt instead of pants, which actually made its way into the Demo of the game. However, it was edited before the release of Chapter One.
