- Beam Me Up, Scotty!: In a fashion. Despite being the fifth season of TNG, this is the first time the phrase "eject the warp core" had ever been uttered in any Star Trek production.
- What Could Have Been: The production team had hoped to get Kirstie Alley to reprise her role as Lt. Saavik from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan for a cameo appearance behind Kelsey Grammer (doubling as a Casting Gag due to both having had main character roles in Cheers) but could not due to scheduling conflicts.
- If this had come to pass, and the dates used in the final version were not changed, this would have caused a fairly epic Continuity Snarl, as 2278 is seven years before Star Trek II.
