Go To

  • Channel Hop: Spirit of Eden was Talk Talk's sole album on Parlophone Records, having put out their first three records through the label's parent company, EMI. Their next and last album, Laughing Stock, would be released through Polydor Records following a contractual dispute with EMI.
  • Creator Backlash: Mark Hollis regretted releasing "I Believe in You" as a single and shooting a music video for it, calling the experience "stupid" and "depressing." According to Hollis, producer Tim Friese-Greene shared his sentiments.
  • Executive Meddling: EMI pressured the band into releasing "I Believe in You" as a single, a move that Hollis later regretted.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Like The Colour of Spring before it, the material for Spirit of Eden was made by stitching together material from lengthy jam sessions.
