• Franchise Killer: Coming shortly after the mixed reaction toward Silent Hill: Downpour, Book of Memories was another poorly received product of the franchise, criticized for its drastic departure of the series that ended up aiming for Uncertain Audience and satisfied few. Unfortunately, this and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D in 2012 were the last straw for Konami before it decided the Silent Hill franchise was done and abandoned it for good. There'd only be secondary releases without original titles and even planned games like Silent Hills got cancelled. It wasn't until 2023 Konami licensed it for new games starting with Silent Hill: Ascension, 11 years after Book of Memories.
