- Acting for Two:
- A lot of NPCs are voiced by voice actors who also voices playable characters.
- In 4, Chen Huiping voices Wu Mhi, Daniel, as well as the voiceovers for the news and chance cards.
- In 6's base game, Ho Shifang voices Miss Money, Wu Mhi, Wumela and Barkeley. Also in the same game, Lin Meixiu voice Xiaomei and DDR.
- Xu Yunyun voices Princess Sarah and Wednesday in 8.
- In Fight, Li Shiyang voices Richmond and Big David.
- Author's Saving Throw: The creator improved a lot of things in 11 based on some criticism of 10, to the point that some players consider the former the deluxe version of the latter:
- One of the complaints of 10 is having too few initial characters. 11’s initial roster has 14 characters (everyone from 10 except for Odd Bioguy and King Octopus) instead of six characters like 10.
- The chibi character models in 10 got a lot of criticisms for being way too childish, so 11 would make each characters' models more unique, similar to those of 7's.
- Some players didn’t like the map being too small in 10, and 11 make the maps bigger so that players can play it longer like previous titles.
- The Spiteful A.I. from 10 is greatly alleviated as CPU characters now pick enemies completely randomly instead of targeting the player character(s) all the time.
- Some characters' talents in 10 are subpar or very niche, or even being unhelpful (such as Wu Mhi's second talent that reduces the duration of Turtle Card and Wumela's third talent which would only activate on a very rare news event). In 11, the balancing of the playable characters' talents are made much better.
- Events and attacks that can cause a character to be stunned are nerfed, and Watertight now allows the player to block hospitalization as well (like in 3). The God of Confusion is also nerfed so at least you can retain control.
- B-Team Sequel: The mainline games since 6 were developed by Softstar Beijing (compared to previous games when it was Crazy Boys), and Yao only supervised the production for these games.
- Creator's Favorite: According to Yao, his favorite game is 2, despite 4 being the most successful game in the series, because it means a lot to him. For his favorite character, it's October/Uncle Tuu, as he makes Yao feel at home (helped by his design being based on Yao's grandfather).
- Descended Creator: Every character, including the NPCs in 4, are voiced by employees of Softstar back in 1998.
- Dummied Out:
- In 4, there are voice clips for characters when their properties are re-modeled by other characters exist in the game's files, but these voice clips can't be heard in the game normally. They would be properly used in 4 Fun, where all characters from 4 would use their voice clips in that game.
- In 7, voice clips of characters continuing the game after losing, getting angry for being charged for a large amount of money, using Deflect Card and being possessed by a bad god exist in the game's file but cannot be heard in-game, although in Hong Kong Tour and Taiwan Tour the last one can be heard. Also, in the base game, there are two special buildings: The Amusement Park and Oil Center, but these buildings' cards only exist in the game's file, and even if made avaliable by hacking, are worth 0 coupons and cannot be used. There are also some other stuffs like spots that give 1, 3 or 5 coupons, and some other cutscene images like being mauled by a dog or opening a chain store.
- In 8, voice clips of characters winning the game, getting angry, being possessed by a bad god and their sleeping noises only exist in game's file. Also, the theme song for Paris map can be found in the game's files, but it's never used as Paris isn't playable in free mode, instead only playable in story mode, and it plays Princess Sarah's theme instead.
- Franchise Killer: 8's poor sales and mixed reception originally caused this, as Word of God confirmed in 2009 that 8 would be the last game in the series. It eventually gets rebooted in 2016.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes:
- 9 shut down in 2020, making it unavailable to find and play elsewhere.
- Fight's PC version shut down in 2018 while the mobile version was discontinued in January 2023, causing both of its version to be unavailable.
- As of writing, 5 is the only main game that hasn't been re-released, likely due to its mixed reception and the difficulty to create a server for the game.
- The Steam version of 6 is missing its well-known active-time mode for unknown reasons, though players have shared files for that mode online to allow others to play the Steam version in active time mode. 6 Expansion is also not put on Steam unlike 4 and 7's expansion packs, and it's incredibly difficult to find a copy of it due to its rarity. Even if you do find one, good luck getting past its Copy Protection. It has also never been released on Cube (a Chinese gaming platform which had released the games in the series before, but the legality the copies have are questionable, and the 7 it has is actually 7 Hong Kong Tour with missing text and voice lines).
- No Dub for You:
- All main titles before 10 only comes with Chinese dub.note 4 Fun also only have Chinese dub sans some characters like Baby King, Daniel and Ninja.
- Only the Nintendo Switch port of 10 has Japanese subtitles and voiceovers. Both Steam and mobile versions lack them.
- No Export for You: While 1 through 4 along with 10 and 11 are available on Steam, none of the other main titles are available in foreign countries. Also. only 10 and 11 are translated into English. 10 also didn't get a Japanese translation outside of its Nintendo Switch port.
- 4's expansion pack is originally unavailable in the Steam release until February 2023.
- As of March 2023, the base game of 6 's turn-based mode, 7 along with its two expansion packs and 8 are also avaliable, and in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. However, 5 and its expansion, 6 's active-time mode, as well as 6 's expansion are still not avaliable yet.
- Orphaned Reference:
- 4 Fun's instruction for Shooting God game has a mentioning of "Silliness God" (God of Confusion), but what actually appears is the green monster from 7. This is likely because this minigame is directly ported from 7.
- Aya's description in the mobile version of Fight is the same as in the PC version, but sleepwalking is absent in the mobile version entirely.
- The Other Darrin: Happens frequently across the series for many characters even when their setting haven't been changed, but notable examples include:
- Xiaomei was voiced by Wang Shujun in 4 and Lin Meixiu since 6.
- The Miss Money most people know for that "My stocking are broken!" line in a higher-pitched voice in 4 was voiced by Zhang Yawen. Starting from 6 Expansion, she's voiced by Tao Minxian.
- Baby King was voiced by Li Weixiao in 4 while using generic baby sound clips in most games.
- Almost all characters have a different voice actor in 10, before most of the more familiar actors return in 11.
- Sequel Gap: Ten years between 8 and 9. Justified as it is announced to be discontinued in 2009 and then revived in 2015. A mobile spinoff was released between them, using assets from previous main titles.
- What Could Have Been:
- Back when Fight was a PC game, some returning characters and new characters were announced to be added. The new characters were Maria, a kind nun, and Dr. Mocha, a doctor who loves to drink mocha. While the returning characters (Princess Sarah, Baby King, Daneil and Miyamoto) returned as time goes on, Maria and Dr. Mocha are nowhere to be found even after the mobile game was shut down.
- Softstar once announced some more Richman spinoffs such as Super Fantasy Adventure and Richman Party, while the latter had a trailer, neither game got to be released.
