Trivia / Rawhide

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: While hardly a minor character, Clint Eastwood gets more space on the DVD covers than any other actor.
  • Breakaway Pop Hit: The theme song is the one thing many younger people remember about the series, especially after it was reprised in The Blues Brothers.
  • The Danza: Nancy Hadley in "Incident of the Day of the Dead" as Ellen Hadley.
  • Dawson Casting: Nineteen year old Rowdy Yates, played by twenty eight year old Clint Eastwood.
  • Referenced by...:
    • Judge Dredd (originally modeled on after Eastwood as Dirty Harry) lives in the Rowdy Yates hab-block.
    • The Blues Brothers play the main theme at one point in the eponymous film after their usual style gets booed by the crowd of the country bar they play in.
    • In An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, the main theme plays when Fievel travels inside a tumbleweed (making the "rollin" part even more appropriate). That reprise is similar to the one from The Blues Brothers.
    • Blue Heelers: One episode has a kid who gives the name Rowdy Yates when brought into the station. Sgt Tom Croydon and possibly Nick are the only ones old enough to get the reference, though Maggie does recognise the Rawhide theme from The Blues Brothers.
  • Star-Making Role: For Clint Eastwood.
