Trivia / Need for Speed: The Run

  • Creator Killer:
    • This game was meant to be EA Black Box's comeback; it didn't work. After rebranding to Quicklime Games for Need for Speed: World, they shut down in 2013.
    • This was the first Need for Speed game to get a Latin-American Spanish dub (previous games had an European Spanish dub). The game's underperformance, however, might be the reason why it's also the last to have one to date.note
  • Franchise Killer: A bizarre instance where a failure in one franchise ended up killing off another franchise. EA Black Box's downsizing and subsequent shutdown after the failure of this game not just ended their involvement in the Need for Speed series, but also put the kibosh on any potential games in the Skate series for at least 10 years, since they were developed by the same team.note
  • Real-Life Relative: In the Latin-American Spanish dub, Cristina Hernández (Sam Harper) and Ricardo Tejedo (Uri) are married in real life.
  • Stunt Casting: In the Latin-American Spanish dub, Jack Rourke was voiced by Julio Bracho, an actor best known for appearing in Telenovelas and other live-action TV series rather than for doing voice work.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: In the companion Wii/3DS versions, the voice actors are credited but their roles aren't identified, so one will need a sharp ear to recognize which actor voices which character.note
  • What Could Have Been: An iOS version was planned to be developed by EA Mobile, but it was eventually canceled.
