Trivia / Lazy Purple

Go To

  • Enforced Method Acting: Around the midway point in "How it FEELS to Play Demoman" where Lazy complains about Engineers, Lazy consumes a significant amount of alcohol to make his drunken attitude come across, and it really shows. Apparently Lazy drank so much that it caused him to vomit afterwards.
  • Schedule Slip:
    • In June 2013, he uploaded "R.I.P. LazyPurple", making fun of people declaring him "dead" after a 3-month hiatus.
    • He had another hiatus, this time three years long, ostensibly due to a Game-Breaking Bug in TF2's replay editor forcing him to scrap weeks of content, but in actuality as a result of struggles with anxiety and depression clashing with his perfectionism.
Lazy Purple: Hey everyone. (laughs) Is that okay? Can I just come back from three years and say "Hey everyone?"
    • The final "How it FEELS" episode on the Medic has also experienced delays, the previous episode being released mid-2020. Lazy later admitted this to again be a result of mental health issues. In September 2021, he posted on Patreon that that the Medic episode required further rewrites as he felt his stress and anxiety while creating it was rubbing off in an uncomfortable way, but thanks to increasing progress with therapy, he'd become more comfortable with its progress.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: The scene in "How it FEELS to Play Engineer" where Lazy uses his body to protect his sentry gun had Careless Whisper by George Michael playing. Unfortunately, Lazy was forced to replace this with some royalty-free music in order to prevent YouTube from blocking the video worldwide (In this case, Love or Lust, by Quincas Morerira).
  • Troubled Production: "How it FEELS to Play Medic" — the long-awaited conclusion to the "How it FEELS" series — had been in the works since mid-2020. As explained through Patreon posts and "Visited by the Ghost of TF2's Past", Lazy had been in an ongoing battle with his anxiety, ADHD, and depression, as well as issues of burnout and perfectionism tied to his making of the "How it FEELS" series. He'd already been in a place of exhaustion following the Demoman video (for reasons personal and more widespread), but his desire to do even more for the Medic video took its toll, manifesting in physical symptoms and general restlessness that's resulted in hundreds of script rewrites. By the end of 2022, he announced he was feeling more optimistic about the video's progress thanks to therapy and assistance on the SFM animation, hoping to get it complete without a mountain of expectations stacked against him.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: On July 31st 2021, Lazy and the owner of LazyPurple Clips channel came to an agreement to take manual control over the latter channel, due to the original channel owner abusing the community tab to call out another Youtuber.
