  • As Himself:
    • Half of the British pop-rock band The Magic Numbers appear as themselves in the Glastonbury episode.
    • Kate Rusby sings in the wedding episode.
    • Whether or not Charles Dance is planning to move to Clatterford becomes a major plot element in the third season.
  • Cancellation: Limiting the show to three series wasn't Saunders's plan; the BBC simply decided not to do a fourth one, to the consternation of many involved.
  • Casting Gag: Joanna Lumley, an actress known for her posh elegance (she was a Bond Girl in the 60s and only stopped modelling in the 2010s) and her starring role in Saunders's Absolutely Fabulous, here plays an extremely old and senile woman in a role so small it's practically The Cameo. (She's written out of the show completely after the first episode of Series 2.)
  • Descended Creator: Co-writer Jennifer Saunders plays the supporting role of Caroline Martin.
  • The Danza:
    • Freya and Beattie Edmondson as Freya and Beattie Martin. (See also the Real-Life Relative entry below.)
    • Tim Vine as Tim Brewer.
  • Real-Life Relative: Jennifer Saunders's daughters Freya and Beattie play Jennifer Saunders's character's daughters, Freya and Beattie.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: "The Village Green Preservation Society" by The Kinks, as covered by Kate Rusby.
  • You Look Familiar: It's unclear whether Patricia Potter's character in one episode of the third series (a pregnant woman called Tish) is the same as her character in one episode of the first series (a wedding dress sales worker called Amy). The characters are very similar, and both are friends of Tash.
