- Acting for Two:
- Seymour S. Sassafras, Wellington B. Bunny and Antoine are all voiced by Danny Kaye.
- Joan Gardner voices both Bonnie Bonnet and Madame Esmerelda, in addition to providing minor roles.
- Paul Frees plays Wellington's assistant and Santa Claus and minor characters.
- Bad Export for You: Universal, the current owners of the pre-1974 Rankin/Bass library through DreamWorks Animation, released the special on Blu-ray in early 2019 as a Walmart exclusive. However, the release uses a syndication master with seven minutes cut. More frustrating is that the included DVD is uncut.
- Celebrity Voice Actor: Casey Kasem voices Peter, Danny Kaye voices Seymour S. Sassafras, Wellington B. Bunny and Antoine, while Vincent Price voices Irontail.
- Prop Recycling: As seen in the page image, the Santa Claus model was recycled from the previous year's Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town. On a side note, he was also voiced by Paul Frees in this special, who previously voiced him in Frosty the Snowman and later voiced him again in Rudolph's Shiny New Year.
- Real Song Theme Tune: The 1949 song "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins (who also composed "Frosty the Snowman") is prominently featured throughout the special.
