Trivia / Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: Phil Collins' guest appearance in the game brought a lot of renewed attention to him from younger audiences at a time when his reputation was firmly in the mud thanks to a longstanding backlash against his overexposure in the '80s, sowing the first seeds of his public rehabilitation over the course of the next decade and a half.
  • Fan Remake: Existed as a Game Mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but so far it's a Perpetual Beta. Unfortunately, as of May 2023, the mod has been cancelled.
  • No Port For You: Unlike Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, which got ported to mobile devices in the mid-2010s, Vice City Stories hasn't gotten a port (outside of a release on the PlayStation 2 in early 2007) or re-release since its original launch (possibly due to Phil Collins himself being included).
  • The Original Darrin: Phil Cassidy is once again voiced by Gary Busey, after being darrin'ed by an unidentified actor in Liberty City Stories.
  • The Other Darrin: Vic's voice actor in this game is Dorian Missick, while in Vice City, he is voiced by Armando Riesco.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Phil Collins, who is a self-confessed fan of video games, is an NPC. He provided his voice for his character, and his music is used throughout the game. At the end, his character performs a concert which you have to protect... or else he "really feels it coming in the air tonight".
  • Role Reprise: Aside from Vic Vance, nearly every major character (Lance Vance, Phil Cassidy, Umberto Robina, Ricardo Diaz, and Gonzalez) and radio DJ (Lazlow Jones, Fernando Martinez, Toni, Adam First, and Maurice Chavez) who first appeared in Vice City is voiced by their original voice actor. Also, Reni Wassulmaier's voice actress reprises their role from Liberty City Stories.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: The song "Sex, (I'm A...)" by Berlin is missing from Wave 103 in the PAL/European version of the game.
