• Creator Backlash:
  • A lot of the cast and crew have implied or outright expressed their disappointment with the episode. In particular, Kit Harington said it's disappointing in an interview while Emilia Clarke gave a very awkward (bordering on sarcastic) reaction, though both also defended it.
  • The writers told Toby Osmund, the actor playing the new Prince of Dorne, to play it serious like the council in the Dragonpit was a momentous event for his kingdom's future. Osmund says he was like, "Are you kidding? After this meeting I'm going back to Dorne and doing whatever I please."
• Dear Negative Reader: In contrast to the Creator Backlash examples above, there are cast members (current and former) who defended the finale, notably Sophie Turner, Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Pedro Pascal. Even Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, who both expressed their disappointment (word per word in Harington's case, see above) to the entire season in general, still came to the finale's aid.
• Life Imitates Art: Much like how Bronn winds up becoming the Master of Coin on the new Small Council, Jerome Flynn became an adviser for a cryptocurrency shortly after the episode aired.
