Trivia / GG Allin

Go To

  • Archive Panic: The reissues and complications are a Mind Screw-level mess, when it comes to having plenty of them.
  • Corpsing: GG audibly starts laughing in some parts during "Kill the Childen, Save the Food."
  • Creator's Favorite: The Suicide Sessions was said to be his overall favorite record he did. A copy of the album was even buried with him inside a cassette player with headphones placed on his ears.
  • Died During Production: GG wrote the songs for Brutality and Bloodshed for All while in Michigan State Prison, recorded them with the Murder Junkies upon his release, and promptly died two months before the album came out. GG also wouldn't live to see the release of his country album, Carnival of Excess.
  • Doing It for the Art: Given the nature of his lyrics and live shows, he clearly wasn't seeking mainstream success. In his appearance on The Jerry Springer Show, when accused of only doing shocking things onstage for money, GG seemed offended and claimed the money he got from his shows was just enough to cover his hospital bills and jail fines.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: His albums tended to go out of print, probably because only fringe nutjobs were buying them, and also not helped that most were released through different record labels, some which have long been defunct.
  • No-Hit Wonder: GG isn't the sort of man who has charting singles, and he did have such aspirations early on (even making a music video(!) for "Live Fast Die Fast") before he truly lost his mind. Yet his legacy, such as it is, maintains to this day.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Obviously, the on-stage suicide he threatened for years never came to pass; he simply overdosed on heroin in June of 1993. Reportedly, on the night of his death, he was talking to friends about touring in Europe, which he'd also never get to do.
    • Dee Dee Ramone briefly joined GG and the Murder Junkies, and played on a few recordings with them, but before they could do any shows, Dee Dee flaked out on them.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: GG's mother removed his grave after years of fans shitting and pissing on it. Considering who we're dealing with here, this could be arguably construed as a sign of respect, or at least, of paying homage to the man himself. In the documentary GG Allin: All In The Family, there's a scene where Merle tells off some guys attempting to do it, and it's made clear that it pained both him and his mother to put up with all this.
