• Fake Nationality: The Dutch technician Van Lutyens is played by British actor John Abineri.
• First Appearance: Of the sonic screwdriver (although due to Patrick Troughton losing the prop from the cold, it's just a whistle on a lifejacket; its first "proper" appearance was in "The Dominators").
• Missing Episode: This is the last Doctor Who serial from which all episodes are lost. The last three incomplete stories following this one are "The Wheel in Space" (Episodes 3 and 6 of 6 exist, along with clips of Episodes 1, 4, and 5), "The Invasion" (with 6 out of 8 episodes existing), and "The Space Pirates" (film inserts from Episode 1 and all of Episode 2 exist including footage reused from Episode 1 and footage reused at the start of Episode 3, of 6 total). Thankfully, this one does have a few existing censor clips and film trims, so we can at least get a glimpse of what this story would have looked like, and the audio remains intact allowing for an Animated Adaptation.
• What Could Have Been: A subplot of the Weed Creature attacking a conference and the Doctor trying and failing to stop it was taken out.
• Working Title: The Colony of Devils. This was changed either by order from the BBC or to avoid being associated with Satanism.
• You Look Familiar: Roy Spencer (Frank Harris) was Manyak.
