• Creator Backlash: Brad Kern regrets not including a picture of Prue in the episode.
• Dyeing for Your Art: Ellen Geer had to wear contacts to match Holly Marie Combs's eye colour, as well as having her eyebrows shaved down to resemble her more.
• Hide Your Pregnancy: There are obvious tells that Holly Marie Combs's pregnancy is being hidden, besides the flowing black top she spends the majority of the episode in. The Distant Finale shows her wearing baggier dresses, one of which has the skirt line coming up to her chest, and the other comes with a big cardigan. In the preceding scene, she walks into frame with the Book of Shadows covering the bump, and another flowing black top. Her pregnancy is conspicuously not hidden during Phoebe's wedding, when per the comics' timeline Piper was pregnant for the third time.
• Pop-Culture Urban Legends: Some producers claim that Shannen Doherty wasn't even asked to appear, and Brad Kern says he didn't because then the finale would become all about Prue. Shannen later said that she was asked but declined, not liking what they were going to do with the character.
• Prop Recycling: The shot of the Manor's door closing at the end was a re-used version of the end of the Season 4 finale.
• Real-Life Relative: Brad Kern's son is the child at Magic School who orbs the book.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: Phoebe and Paige spending most of this episode dead is because Alyssa Milano needed time off to visit family, while Rose McGowan was busy shooting Planet Terror. As "Kill Billie Vol. 2" required them to Trash the Set, "Forever Charmed" was filmed first - and Alyssa and Rose made up for it by having more screen time in the former.
• Separated-at-Birth Casting: Ellen Geer was cast as the elderly Piper because her hair resembled Holly Marie Combs's.
• Serendipity Writes the Plot: The reason a picture of Prue wasn't used in the finale at all? It would have cost the producers $8000 - resulting in one of the returning cast members being dropped. This is also why no photos of Darryl, Cole or Andy are used either. Essentially, any cast members not already appearing in the episode couldn't have their photos featured.
• Uncredited Role: All the child actors are uncredited for their appearances as the Halliwells' descendants. Most are unknown, except for Kathleen Teresa Scott as Piper's third child Melinda, and Jordan Timsitt as one of the grandsons.
• Wag the Director: Older versions of Piper and Leo were cast because Holly Marie Combs didn't want to wear aging prosthetics while pregnant.
• Working Title: "A Farewell to Charmed".
