Trivia / CASUAL+Y

  • Creator Backlash: Martin Freeman is rather embarrassed about his pre-fame appearance, as shown on You Have Been Watching.
  • Distanced from Current Events: The episode due to air on 2 May 2020 was skipped and replaced by the following one because it involved a contagion that required everyone to wear hazmat suits... rather too similar to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was eventually aired four months later.
    • The episode due to air on 16 October 2021, which involved a knife attack, was delayed for two weeks following the murder, the day before, of the Conservative MP Sir David Amess.
  • I Am Not Spock: This applies to Michael French (aka Nick Jordan), Derek Thompson (aka Charlie Fairhead, who is probably the iconic character of the show), Will Sharpe (Yuki), Sunetra Sarker (Zoe) and the anonymous blonde actress who plays Kath (identity of actress is unknown for now).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only Series 1-3 have been released on DVD to celebrate the show's twentieth anniversary with no plans for any more despite petitions.
  • The Other Darrin: Seemed to be a thing with children of staff. Happened to Tally once, although in hindsight this was probably for the better. Louis is by far the worst offender, having been played by about four different actors.
  • Production Posse: After three seasons successfully reviving Doctor Who (creatively, if not commercially), that series' script editor Andrew Cartmel was headhunted for the same position on Casualty, and brought with him a host of Doctor Who writers, from both the series and the concurrent Doctor Who New Adventures books.
  • Recast as a Regular: Melanie Hill played a One-Shot Character way back in 1993; come 2024, she joined the series as Siobhan McKenzie, a regular character.
  • Sending Stuff to Save the Show: Slightly subverted, rather more a case of Fandom to get incidental characters into full-time characters.
  • Throw It In!: The extras' dialogue is ad-libbed, apparently.
