Trivia / Bob West

Go To

  • Acting for Two: This trope was in full force anytime Jasper T. Jowls and Pasqually interacted during a Chuck E. Cheese's showtape from the late 80s to the late 90s due to West voicing both characters.
  • Fake Nationality: From the mid-1980s to the late-1990s, West - a Pittsburgh area native - voiced Jasper T. Jowls (a dog from Tennessee) and Pasqually (an Italian chef) for Chuck E. Cheese. Currently, they're both voiced by Texans Jeremy Blaido and Earl Fisher.
  • He Also Did: In addition to his voice acting and production graphics work, West is also a writer, painter and creative director of his own company, Thought Nozzle. He was also Art Director on the Brendan Fraser film, Still Breathing, while he was still the voice of Barney.
  • The Original Darrin: Despite retiring from the role in 2000, West came back to do the voice of Barney during promotional activities for the 2005 launch of PBS Kids Sprout as his then-current voice actor, Dean Wendt, was unavailable.
  • Plays Great Ethnics: Not only can he play Italian characters like Pasqually, but if his turn in a Lucille Ball telemovie is anything to go by, he can also convincingly sing as Desi Arnaz.
  • Reclusive Artist: … or so the Barney and Chuck E. Cheese fandoms thought. Up until about 2018, West did not appear as a public face for either franchise, but is now very active on social media and is known for chatting with fans.
  • What Could Have Been: West auditioned for Space Jam in the mid-90s. He sent a tape of himself doing various character voices through to Warner Bros, but never heard back. Ironically, most of the roles ended up going to Billy West! The demo tape can be heard on his website.
  • Word of Saint Paul: According to various livestreams Bob has done, Barney sometimes struggles with anxiety and depression, just like Bob himself.
