Trivia / Agent Cody Banks

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: Harald Zwart was initially set to return to direct the sequel but dropped out due to financial reasons between him and MGM, thus Kevin Allen took over, though Zwart was still involved with the film as story writer.
  • California Doubling:
    • The first film is set in Seattle, but was shot entirely in Vancouver, BC.
    • Mostly averted by the sequel; shot in England and other than a few scenes, entirely set in England.
  • Dawson Casting: A reversed example; Hilary Duff was only 14 when she was portrayed her 16 year old character.
  • Fake American: For a sequel set in London, British actor Keith Allen plays an American.
  • Fake Nationality: German student Johan Berchamp is played by Alfie Allen, who is British.
  • Follow the Leader: Gee, could this movie have possibly been inspired by the then-recent success of the Spy Kids films?
  • Franchise Killer: The sequel killed plans for a third film. And the fact that Frankie Muniz is now in his 30s and therefore too old to play the character again further makes any chance of a third Cody Banks movie unlikely.
  • Real-Life Relative: Keith Allen's son Alfie Allen appears in the sequel as one of Cody's classmates and his brother Kevin directed it.
  • What Could Have Been: A third movie was pitched at one point, with a new set of teenage agents that Cody would train, but Frankie Muniz wanted to move on from the franchise at that point.
    • According to Muniz, years later, he was pitched a comedic animated reboot of the series, where it would take place years later with Cody being an older, washed-up spy, and would have more adult themes.
