Tear Jerker / The Rise Of Golus

Go To

Suprisingly, there are a few to be found here.

  • Until Marceline comes by, Z-Squared laments that the Review Team might just be some kind of pointless endeavor. Considering how less pronounced reviewing movies gets in the fanfics, this becomes more pronounced.
    • He's basically saying that he can never have a normal life because of this zany scenario.
  • The Review Team is trapped by Golus in a Prism Prison after getting their asses handed to them by his powers. Imagine how their loved ones feel with them gone!
  • When they get to the devastated New York, Marceline refers to the place as depressing and "not in the good way". Think about it.
  • Starscream actually seems to care about his master's safety, thus he is horrified by what Golus did to him.
  • As it turns out, Golus can actually feel. Fluttershy's opinion on it isn't that of a monster, but of a confused child, in summary. When he starts playing with rubble, that's the first sign that there may be something a bit more poignant about the thing.
    • In Part 4, he makes a spaceship out of rubble. Then, he begins to try and reach the sky for some reason until he falls on his face. Apparently, Earth isn't his home (or desired place of living). He's quite despondent because of this. Even Marceline (the woman he injured greatly) feels a bit bad.
  • Gwonam and Squidward, in that part, also contemplate their lot in life. Squidward has the obvious reason to be bitter, but Gwonam has a comparatively worse fate. He knows his game bombed and that he's ridiculed on the internet. Not a day goes by when he doesn't think of what he is. A joke.
  • Golus's entire situation during the final part. When he clings to life after getting blown to holy hell by the Team, he's weeping in terror. He even glomps Marceline for comfort. And THEN, Sir makes him mad by destroying his favorite toy....
    • In the end, when he finally dies, the whole Team, even the friends of the one he murdered, comfort him. He eventually passes on peacefully.
  • GWONAM'S DEATH. At first, it feels like an a pointless endeavor, but at least he manages to give Squidward a power-boost and let out a speech before passing away.
Gwonam: "Sq...Squidward...Just because the body rots, doesn't mean the soul withers away as well. I'm sure the next life will provide much reprieve for the lot of us. We have finished our quest. And look right now..."
