This series contains examples of:

  • Amateur Sleuth: Seol-Ok. She has no formal training and relies on her intelligence and intuition to solve cases.
  • Cowboy Cop: Wan-Seung very often.
  • Cleans Up Nicely: Seol Ok is pretty anyway but pays little attention to her appearance. When she dresses up she is quite the stunner.
  • Housewife: Seol-Ok for her workaholic and distant husband, though she is not a particularly good one.
  • Femininity Failure: Poor Seol-Ok. According to her mother-in-law, Seol-Ok has nothing to recommend about her, not her looks, her cooking, her class etc.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Wan-Seung and Seol-Ok eventually.
  • Idle Rich: Subverted. Wan-Seung brags about his privileged upbringing and takes advantage of it when he needs to to but he is also an energetic insistent cop.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Wan-Seung, especially with regard to Seol-Ok. At first, he's quite rude to her. But over time, he grows to care deeply for her.

  • The Lost Lenore: Eun Soo, Wan-Seung's dead girlfriend.
  • Married to the Job: Seol-Ok's husband, Kim Ho-Chul. He spends most of his time at work and does not seem to have much time for his wife.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Wan-Seung and Joon Oh are a platonic variation of this.
  • Shout-Out: Seol-Ok = Sherlock, Wan-Seung = Watson.
  • Your Cheating Heart: Kim Ho-Chul. Luckily, finding out about his affair finally gives Seol-Ok the impetus to strike out on her own.
